Circle Fellowship Committees

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall operation of the Fellowship, and can create ad-hoc committees as needed to facilitate the affairs of the Fellowship.  The Program Committee and RE committee are created by the By-Laws.  The remainder of the existing committees are ad-hoc.

Program Committee

The program committee is responsible for planning services for the year.  The program year will begin and end with the first Sunday following Labor Day in September. Planning services includes planning the overall structure and form of the service, including but not limited to Welcome, announcements, chalice and ancestor candle lighting, music, readings, offertory and closing, plus finding speakers to speak on topics to be balanced among spirituality, social justice, science and technology, the Arts, and congregation issues and/or growth.

Religious Education (RE) Committee

The Religious Education committee is responsible for maintaining a thoughtful RE program for the children and adults in Fellowship. Fellowship Children are using two UU Curriculum in addition to covenanting based on the UU principles how they will behave with one another. Adult RE just started doing summer adult RE in the summer of 2007 with a series called "The Membership Journey".  This summer we will again have an adult RE series called "The Spirit of Life", and we are considering a fall 2008 program called "Building Your Own Theology".

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is responsible for all things related to the maintenance and growth of the membership of the Fellowship.  This involves a number of areas that overlap with the responsibilities of other committees. In essence the Membership Committee encourages and advocates for the things that encourage visitors to come to and stay at Circle Fellowship. These include encouraging members to greet and talk with (and to make sure that we get contact information for) visitors both before and after the service. The committee should follow up with contacting visitors during the following week, and again in another week or two.  Repeat visitors should be welcomed and recognized, and after several visits could be asked to help out with some small activity like rearranging chairs for the service.  Membership committee should also encourage members to explicitly invite visitors to activities like dinner discussions, Covenant Group, and Indy Folk Series. Last Summer the Membership Committee did a series of workshops called the Membership Journey. For more information on our Membership Journey click here.

Building and Grounds Committee

The Building and Grounds committee is responsible for maintenance of building and grounds plus planning projects for expansion of amenities and facilities. Upcoming projects that the Building Committee is currently working on are mostly accessibility related and include a new entry in the East porch, and deck extension to that new entry, widening hallways and installing a new bathroom for wheelchair accessibility.
